However, my top recommendation for your Cotswolds experience is to opt for a pub with rooms. The culinary scene in Cotswold pubs is extraordinary, featuring Michelin-star chefs, locally sourced ingredients, and dynamic menus. 1. The Swan

Nestled in the delightful village of Ascott-under-Wychwood, The Swan stands out as one of the finest pubs with rooms in the Cotswolds. This 16th-century coaching inn preserves numerous original features, exuding warmth with its log fire and abundant character. A terrace with a dedicated bar adds to the charm, creating a perfect setting for the summer months.
Featuring 8 individually designed bedrooms, The Swan imparts a genuine homely ambiance, reminiscent of a stay at your grandmother's house.
On the ground floor, there's a strong emphasis on high-quality cuisine. The menu is meticulously curated, presenting a delightful challenge when making selections during my stay last year.
With a commitment to locally-sourced ingredients from neighboring farmers, don't miss the chorizo popcorn and the ox cheek, stout & oyster pie served with creamed potato and gravy.

2. The Kingham Plough

The Kingham Plough stands as a captivating country pub with rooms in the peaceful town of Kingham, located 5 miles east of Stow-on-the-Wold.
Featuring 6 individually designed rooms, each adorned with king-size beds and rustic decor, the inn offers a charming retreat. Some rooms boast remarkable original features such as exposed beams and fireplaces, while one even includes a freestanding bathtub in the bedroom.
Renowned for its superb culinary offerings, The Kingham Plough places a strong emphasis on the finest local and seasonal ingredients. From Herefordshire beef to fish and shellfish from the Cornish Coast, as well as Salt Pig charcuterie and Cacklebean eggs, the menu reflects a commitment to quality.
Complementing the cuisine is an impressive array of local beers and craft ales. The pub itself exudes charm, embodying everything one might expect from a cozy Cotswolds hideaway. Additionally, an outdoor seating area beckons during the warmer summer months.

3. The Royal Oak
Cirencester Road, Tetbury GL8 8EY
The Royal Oak is a charming pub situated in Tetbury, a quaint town nestled on the grounds of an ancient hill fort.
Boasting 12 individually designed rooms, including 3 that are dog-friendly, each room comes equipped with amenities such as a TV, hairdryer, and kettle. Some bedrooms showcase captivating original features like wooden beams and a wood-burning stove.
For those seeking a touch of luxury, The Oak Lodge presents an enticing option. Featuring a super-king bed, mezzanine, a roll-top bath within the room, a separate rainfall shower, along with two armchairs and a wood burner.
The pub offers a seasonal menu crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, complemented by a selection of local ales and ciders. Outside, a delightful courtyard garden awaits, along with the "Tavern on the Green," a heated, covered area for patrons.
The Royal Oak's strategic location makes it an ideal base for exploring Castle Combe, often hailed as the most picturesque village in England.

4. The Old Stocks Inn
The Square, Market Square, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cheltenham GL54 1AF
The Old Stocks Inn is situated in the charming market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, just a short 15-minute drive from Chipping Campden.
Featuring 16 bedrooms of varying sizes to accommodate different budgets and group sizes, some rooms open onto the garden terrace and include freestanding tubs. Retaining the original features of the 17th-century building, the rooms blend these historic elements with modern touches, creating a bright and airy ambiance.
Headed by Ian Percival, the pub's kitchen holds two AA rosettes, ensuring a delightful culinary experience. Utilizing locally sourced ingredients, the menu offers a diverse selection of appetizing starters, mains, and desserts. Additionally, breakfast is included in the room price.
The pub's location is superb, situated right in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, renowned for its antique shops and boutiques. As one of the larger towns in The Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold offers plenty of attractions and activities to explore.

5. The Fox at Oddington

The Fox at Oddington stands as a picturesque village pub with rooms, conveniently located just a brief 5-minute drive from Stow-on-the-Wold. Owned by Carole Bamford, the visionary behind The Wild Rabbit and Daylesford Farm, this establishment prioritizes using ingredients primarily sourced from Daylesford, ensuring a menu brimming with fresh, seasonal offerings made from the finest produce.
The main menu boasts a variety of enticing dishes, such as buttermilk-fried chicken wings, organic venison, beetroot orzo, and Hereford rib-eye steak. Complementing these are wood-fired sourdough pizzas, a selection of sides, and a tempting array of desserts.
The 6 exquisitely designed bedrooms draw inspiration from the Cotswolds countryside, each presenting a unique and stunning ambiance. Equipped with linen sheets, organic cotton bathrobes, in-room minibars, and top-tier mattresses, toppers, and pillows, these rooms offer a luxurious touch.
Some even feature four-poster beds and freestanding bathtubs. The Fox distinguishes itself as more than just an average pub with rooms; it embodies the essence of a luxury hotel with an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
